I HEARD THAT THIS WAS BASED ON A TRUE STORY?AND IF ANYONE IS A FAN OF THIS,THE ORGINAL TITLE WAS CALLED NAM,BEFORE THEY CHANGED IT.

YES IT IS BASED ON THE VIETNAM WAR!IT HAPPENED A COUPLE OF DECADES AGO.MICHAEL DUDIKOFF WAS ONLY A KID BACK THEN BUT HE PROBABLY KNEW SOMEBODY WHO WENT TO WAR AND BASED THE CHARACTERS PERSONALITY ON HIM. HE IS A GREAT ACTOR AND THIS MOVIE IS GREAT TOO.
