Last Scene + Pin

Why did Pin look like Leon at the end?

I don't see how that makes sense. Leon is dead at the end, right?

And it was Pin's voice? So it was Leon, who is still alive, made to look plastic like Pin but at the same time, still look like himself? Why look plastic? I'm lost, as you can see. I don't see the reasons or details that supports the idea that it is Leon.

You are getting this from the book? If so, I think most people wouldn't get that from just the movie alone.

Really? It was pretty clear. I'm kind of sad that people have trouble with this ending.

Leon had a split personality, he was schizophrenic. For whatever reason (the events of the story, worsening condition... whatever) he retreated into his alter-ego to the point where he lost sight of the his 'real' persona. If he thought he was Pin, it's logical he should style his hair etc. to look like Pin.

I've not read the book but it seems quite simple to me.

It was Leon sent over the edge.
How could anyone think it was Pin? Why would Pin need a nurse?

reply

And doesn't anyone remember the opening scene with the little kids?

Look man I just watched this film for the first time last night its simple. Leon developed two personalities and in the end the "pin" personality took over. Leon was speaking for pin all that time then eventually he thought for him and then became him. Like the end of psycho where Norman Bates mother personality took over....get it ?

i like to believe that after leon was killed that pin was shown to actually be alive having feelings and such as a twist ending if thats not the truth well i dont care its still a good movie havent seen it in years.

I thought there were several alternative interpretations:
1. Ursula, having killed Leon, has taken over his obsession in an attempt to bring Leon back.
2. Ursula, instead of killing Leon, chopped up Pin and Leon therefore has gone mad and now dresses himself like Pin to replace him. This is the more likely interpretation since Leon would have most likely been declared insane and allowed to live under his sister's care.

As mentioned, it was Leon.

The dummy was destroyed and Leon needed to keep Pin alive in his mind so he became Pin.

"1. Ursula, having killed Leon, has taken over his obsession in an attempt to bring Leon back."

i interpreted it like this. and find it much more interesting and believe it gives the film more balance, going back and forth between "psychological drama" and "horror thriller". the constant switch-ups in genre parallel the schitzo behavior portrayed by the main character.
