doubles/soulmates

This happens to be the favorite movie of a girl I'm trying to get close to and I wonder if figuring it out will help me figure her out.

I see Yasmin and Brenda as soulmates, yin and yang in every respect: (body types, skin color, heritage, temperment), which I think is definitely intentional casting.
So here comes Rudy at the end trying to get Yasmin to marry him because she's allowed him to paint her nude.
Are Yasmin and Brenda two halves of the same whole? Can anybody offer a nugget of wisdom as to why Yasmin would have to check with Brenda before she commits to marrying Rudy?

To me, Yasmin saying that she'd have to check with Brenda shows the inter-dependence between the two women. At the start of the film, they're all unhappy misfits, struggling to cope with the issues hrown at them in life. The movie then takes the viewer on the journey where the friendships formed begin to result in one happy family, a concept that ultimately drives the tatooist away ('Too much harmony')!

i think this is just a very odd film which doesnt really mean anything. i would avoid that girl if i was you. she sounds complicated.

"Bagdad Cafe" is a terrific and multi-faceted movie. My late wife also loved this movie. She was an amazing person with wonderful values. Treat this woman with love and tenderness, you will be rewarded beyond your dreams.
