Out of Rosenheim/Out of Africa

I thought the title was a play on Out of Africa. The heroines of each being outsiders who come and change (and are changed themselves) by their experience.

Haven't seen "Out of Africa", so I can't comment on your idea with some certainty, but the title "Out of Rosenheim" (and in fact the entire film) to me is a play on the ages-old narrative pattern of "The Hero out of Nowhere". The term "out of nowhere" is even used in the film, Brenda says it in her phone call to the police when describing her weird guest.

Does this pattern also apply to "Out of Africa"? I'm currently looking for more films based on it, so that might be a reason for me to finally watch the film.

I wouldn't say that applies to Out of Africa but it's well worth watching. I didn't watch it for more than a decade, then I did and liked it more than I thought I would.
