too bad the whole thing had a 'chopped up' feeling to it regarding editing. Scenes are just abruptly cut and not enough 'depth' is put into the other characters hanging around the Bagdad Cafe.
The more I study it, the greater the puzzle becomes.

I noticed that too but it doesn't look like a result of laziness but rather a result of the experimental filming style. You can see all sorts of interesting imagery sometimes appearing randomly. Some scenes look like the cameras filing had filters attached to them. Other scenes are more colorful or have colored glass. To me if seems on purpose.
