Despite not knowing who he was at the time...

I don't think it's surprising that I became a huge Billy Joel fan later on in life. "Why Should I worry" was one of my favourite Disney songs, and I honestly at one point wanted to be Dodger (apparently being a slick, singing dog who surfs on cars is very appealing to a four year old).

Oh, no question about it. To me, anyway. I grew up wanting to be Rita or any other slick, singing, dancing dog...and actually, I'm 25 and still very much do. I also grew up listening to a lot of Billy Joel's songs, so I've got at least 20-30 favorites...definitely one of the greatest singers of all.
Dodger and Tramp were both guy-dog idols of mine when I was little. Charlie Barkin, too. "Why Should I Worry?" summed up a lot for me; I would hop around on my furniture singing it, then go in the backyard and hold my foot up to the sprinkler the way Dodge did to the spraying hydrant. xD In fact, I sang the songs from this movie EVERYWHERE and to absolutely anyone--in the car, in school, on the bus, in restaurants...

I'm irrationally thrilled to hear that I was not the only one who acted out the fire hydrant spraying while belting out that song.

Oh, it so delights me to hear that! 😁😄

The main reason why Oliver And Company became such a hit was partly because of Billy Joel's voice acting debut as Dodger and because he had done Dodger's voice as a surprise for his daughter Alexa who was 3 years old at the time the movie debuted in theaters. But even before Oliver And Company came out Billy Joel was a big bonafide star in the 80's and the Dodger role really helped Billy's career out a lot because he had released his album Storm Front in 1989 and a concert special in 1990 and Billy Joel was on the road to superstardom. But Disney should've let Huey Lewis voice a character in Oliver And Company for them because Huey Lewis would've gotten more praise than Billy Joel
