1) The couple having sex in the crowded movie theater (what was the point of this?)
2) The topless actress in the film clip montage at the end. I was surprised that they had nudity in mainstream films back in the 50s. Does anyone know what movie this is from and the name of the portrayed actress? Thanks.

If you have to ask you will never know.

I think you are mistaking puritan American audiences with the European populace. Watch some German films from the 30's and 40's and you will get a better understanding of the two mentalities.
lol kid. I hope my message didn't interfere with your adolescent sex drive. I love it when these little junior high kids post on the message boards. It's always a riot.
Thank you for taking an interest in my writing. I agree that it's quite funny and clever. Feel free to drop in and view my ironic musings whenever you like.
Well there really is no praise like self-praise, is there?
Did you like 'Isn't it ironic" by Alanis Morisette, by any chance? A whole host of examples which, like your 'ironic' postings, contain no hint of irony whatsoever.
The interesting questions about this film are not how unlikely it is that someone in Italy might live to be 100, since lots of Italians with their healthy diets, warm winters and daily exercise do live for decades after their 70th birthday. The interesting questions are things like 'Does it deserve its rep as one of the best films of the 20C?'
Whatever else it deserves it doesn't deserve intellectual midgets like yourself, who haven't understood Thing One, dissing it in public while simultaneously congratulating themselves on their wit.
You're really funny. I like how you pretend to be an intellectual, but then you make it painfully obvious to the rest of us that you don't know the definition of irony. Ouch. The song by Alanis Morissette (a citation that clearly demonstrates the depth of your impressive intellectual pursuits) isn't even about irony. The running joke when the song came out was that the only thing ironic about the song is that it was called "ironic." Anybody who quotes this song as an example of irony clearly doesn't know a thing about irony.
And like other sad users on this board, you are not able to defend this movie, and thus resort to ad hominem attacks (look it up...you won't find this term on any of your Alanis Morissette CDs so you might actually have to learn something).
Before you forget, this movie is an embarrassement to Italian cinema.
And in the meantime, you may continue to enjoy my postings.
Ironically, you misread my sentence about Alanis Morisette, which I cited as an example of someone boasting a knowledge of irony and then, ironically, proving that she has none.
A bit like you.
This movie belongs to a romantic genre that doesn't excite or appeal to everybody. Especially arrogant nitwits who try to pick holes that aren't there and say obviously stupid things like:
this movie is an embarrassement to Italian cinema
How can a moviewith such wide critical acclaim, an acknowledged place in the Pantheon of Italian cinema AND with a top 250 place in imdb possibly be an embarassment?
That is the most pretentious response imaginable. Actually, both of your reponses are incredibly pretentious.
Both of his questions are valid questions. If you actually had an answer you would've answered, rather than criticizing without actually demonstrating any knowledge.
