Good News! Czech Language Version DVD

Good News! Finally the Czech language version of Alice is being
released with English subtitles or alternative English language
version. If you have a region 2 player the UK edition of Alice is being
released May 23 2011. This is a DVD/Blue Ray combo.

Why is this important? Am I the only one who, though I love this film,
has been slightly annoyed by the English quotations being read over
Czech lips in extreme close-up. This version finally solves that
problem. It looks a lot better to hear the Czech Alice quotes in Czech
rather than the English voice-over. I'm guessing they did that for the
original US release because everyone is so familiar with Alice in
Wonderland that it might be strange to get subtitles for an English
work. But I've seen clips with the Czech. Suddenly those big lips
talking and their voice feel absolutely right.

Thanks for the good news...I'm definitely going to get it :)

Awesome to read this ... I was just about to view the movie and noticed that it's dubbed which annoys the hell out of me. I will try to find an original version and then watch the movie to the end :)

+ the Blu-ray Disc is region-free (as the BFI's are whenever possible), so if you have a BD player it doesn't need to be a multi-region one.

I don't mind English dubs. I hate reading subtitles.

I understand. It's a common preference. Alas, the film world really opens up when you do read subtitles. Once you've seen Tarkovsky, Kurosawa, Cocteau or Kieslowski, to name a mere few, it's hard to imagine going back to the monolinguistic world.

I have read subtitles with films that aren't in English at all but if I have a choice, I will choose the English language. I am not able to enjoy a film as much when I'm reading instead of watching.

Thanks gulag.

This info comes too late for me, just spotted a BD of the film and grabbed it. I collect Carroll.

Was optimistic in the menu, it offered subtitle or not. But sadly it was dubbed in English, and that was the only audio offered.

Makes me feel like I don't actually have the movie, 'cause I DON'T!

I know that the DVD in that set is PAL format, but can the BluRay be played in US players(or video game consoles like the PS3)?

The Blu-Ray on the UK Version is indeed Region Free, so it will play anywhere. It plays on my machine and my Blu-Ray machine hates Region 2.
