Daisy was looking rather stupid dressed like that at dinner. I liked what her boyfriend did and I would've walked out the minute aunt Tweedy or Trudy whatever the hell, said it "was hard to train these Portugese girls " Daisy looked like she was gonna melt into a puddle when her friend Teresa the maid recognized her and asked if she was still working at the pizza place. What's with all the dippy looks on Annabeth Gish's face ? I thought Daisy was a little stupid when she kept asking what smelled in Jojos boyfriend Bills truck when it clearly states he is a fisherman/lobsterman on the side of his truck not to mention she knew that. So I guess she was a stupid slut . I actually liked Jojo the best .

She didn't look stupid. She was meeting his parents for the first time, and was trying to make a good impression. It's better to be overdressed than underdressed in my opinion anyway. As for Charlie's behavior at the dinner party, he wasn't doing it to save Daisy's honor. He was doing it because he wanted an excuse to be rude to his family, whom he secretly resented. Sure certain remarks made by the family were insensitive, but Daisy knew they were just in an uncomfortable situation with her, just like she was with them.

Of course she was overdressed and trying too hard, That was the point - to show she was not used to the wealthy lifestyle

Daisy kills me wearing that dress! She looks ridiculous. She looks insane in the first dress she wore with the gigantic white bow on her first date with Charlie. You think she'd have some sense and realize she's not going out with some blue collar guy that will be impressed with that hideous dress. For Charlie's part though, her lack of upper crust class seems to be the appeal for him. The tacky dresses probably turned him on!

That was the style in the 80's, BIG.. Big hair, Big shoulder pads, Big bows etc.

I think Daisy looked better in the ott gown with the big white bow than those two blue-blooded girls wearing the hideous preppy “uniforms.”

The comment about the truck smelling like lobster bait was a set up for when she dumps it all in Charlie's car later in the film.

Exactly. I find this a lot on IMDB from females calling other females "sluts" just because they don't like attractive females. Kat was the actual slutty one in this movie yet everyone is defending her because she isn't sexy. Daisy is gorgeous so gets called names. The dress wasn't even showing much, it was just typical of 80's fashions.



Not a Julia fan but, you're being way to hard on her character here.

This was the 80s, she didn't know better and she felt insecure. And she didn't know better.

Her friend seemed like a nice girl but, was too outspoken and a little clumsy.

I liked Jojo the best too.
