What if this took place in the same universe as Men in Black?

I mean both movies were made by Columbia Pictures (well, technically, MSIAA was made by a subsidiary of Columbia/Sony, Weintraub Entertainment Group)? I'm surprised that Dan Aykroyd never lobbied to be in one of the Men in Black movies since it's pretty much an extraterrestrial take on Ghostbusters. Plus, Aykroyd is generally into that kind of stuff, which could explain what drew him to a movie like MSIAA in the first place.
