I'm with you this is one of Pryor's funniest movies ever. I'll be glad when it's availiable on DVD.

I saw this movie last night after having not seen it in quite a few years. I completely forgot how hilarious and underrated it is. Perfect comedy cast. Dana Carvey doing what he does best playing a guy with 8 personalities(The row row row your boat part is priceless). Randy Quaid doing what he does best playing a total greaseball nut.

reply

Yes, Randy's great here, playing the type of character he played in the "Vacation" films. In fact, this film reminded me quite a bit of the "Vacation" films – great ensemble cast, "fish out of water" family, sight gags that come out of nowhere. I'm surprised this movie isn't better known, but that's part of its charm.

I know you guys are gonna hate me for this but I just watched it for the first time (it's on Netflix's streaming service right now), and I didn't really care for it. I laughed at a few parts but most of it was just depressing to me, poor Arlo. =(

I don't know why I didn't really find it funny though, I love comedies. But I'm glad to see that there are people who got a lot of enjoyment out of it anyways. =)

reply

I very much like it.
