It is mentioned that the crazy neighbor (Randy Quaid) used to be in the NAVY 15 years ago. The movie was made in 1988. 15 years before, in 1973, Randy Quaid plays a NAVY in "The Last Detail".

who played Richard Pryor's wife in this movie...

It's been several years, but unfortunately her real-life son was murdered in 1989 in Salt Lake City, in an altercation outside of a bar.

It's been several years, But I just wanted to post condolences, in the off- chance she or anyone who knows her, reads this.

The movie was made in 1987 and released in early 1988.
