Who rented this as a kid?

I remember watching this when I was very young, not long after it came out. It made for a cool home video viewing experience since Jackson had this magical aura around him when I was a kid. I loved the cover art: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6xDjpcGE4LA/SkcMzjbKLqI/AAAAAAAAAWc/ETshXeUL 7vE/s400/michael_jackson.jpg

Surprised jackson released it straight to video as well. I wonder why it wasn't a cinema release.

I own it!!! watched it many times as a child...my sisters and brother and I still know it word for word from start to finish...when MJ passed away, we dusted it off and played it on our VCR! I would definitely go see it in the theater if ever released!

I haven;t seen it since I was like six, does it still hold up now? I remember digging it a lot, but I also dug 'Ewoks: Battle for Endor' too.

well if you are still a huge fan of his music then yes it definitely holds up...even the mini movie, joe pesci, smooth criminal, although cheesy, it's still great. but then again, i kind of like cheesy lol!

Does it have the entire video for smooth criminal?

The smooth criminal portion comes in towards the end, in the middle of the segment with joe pesci and the three kids...he goes into club 30's, takes out a coin and flips/tosses it from one side of the room to the other into a jukebox and they do an entire sequence to smooth criminal, dancing and all...it's amazing! lol!! ever played the michael jackson game for sega genesis??

reply

Looks like I gotta rent this movie again! Sounds cool.

Don't think I had the genesis game, though. Did you have fun playing that game? I loved the genesis. My favorite console.

Pizza? Thin or thick? Chicago.

reply

yes! rent it and please share whether you still enjoy it!! lol! The game was fun...I remember the night we beat the game...we stood up until about 2 in the morning playing, taking turns, screaming at each other lol! Good Times...

Sounds familiar! We did the same with Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2 on the genesis.

I just bought it on Blu-ray. It's a bizarre twisted movie to say the least but it has its amazing moments and when Michael's dancing and busting his moves with those iconic songs its just amazing!!!!!!!
Smooth Criminal in HD :))))))

From what I recall it got released direct to video in America(after failure to acquire a proper theatrical release) but in some countries outside the US it did get a proper theatrical run.

I saw it three times in a movie theatre here in Sweden. The smallest theatre of them all, and we were at most 10 people watching...

I was 14 at the time

I bought it on VHS when I was a kid, one of the first VHS I bought, and I watched it all the time...

I sold it though in 2000 or something, and didn't get to rewatch it til today in a blu ray rip, I must admit that the story telling is a little poor especially the half assed ending, and way too many clips from the past that I'd rather watch in it's entirety on youtube than 30 seconds clip in this "movie" but it was cool to see Mike acting again, and the Badder video is still very fun...

PS the blu-ray cut out 14,5 seconds of Joe Pesci being mean to Katy, so that kinda sucks but I didn't notice it until I read it here tbh http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=224122

I'm gonna refuse you an offer you can't make
