Willem Dafoe best supporting actor?

Why no oscar nod? I thought he was excellent in this movie. Does anyone agree?

Yes, he was COMPLETELY snubbed that year.

He starred in the lead of Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ" AND the supporting role of Alan Parker's "Mississippi Burning" in that same Fall of 1988.

In a perfect world, he'd have been nominated for both.
