This movie is not that bad.

Saw it on cable recently. It's a shame more people didn't see it.

It is a shame. It has more artistic merit and integrity than most of the garbage at the cinema today. Nearly every new movie is just about stuff blowing up or blood being splashed everywhere or loads of swear words.

After I watched this movie, I thought to myself what if Australopithecus robustus continued to evolve? Could they have evolved into a sentient species like us? They were on their way but our ancestors were cruel.

Just reading about this movie, it sounds like one I would never go out of my way to try and see.

But several years ago I stumbled across it on cable one day (TBS or TNT, of all places; one of those). I had never heard of it before and wasn't sure what to make of it, so I kept on channel surfing past it a couple times. But every time I came back across it I would find myself watching for a couple more minutes than I had before. Eventually, I just put the remote down and watched the rest of it. I probably only saw about the last 40 minutes or so, but it was a very intriguing movie.

I had no idea what it was, and a couple years went by before I ever discovered the title. (I was watching SLEEPY HOLLOW one day and recognized Michael Gambon's voice as the one I'd heard narrating this movie.) Now I'd like to sit down one day and watch the entire movie from beginning to end.
