This movie was on a Spanish-language station on my cable system this past Saturday afternoon (translated title was "(something) Perdido." I only watched for a short while but found it oddly compelling. Being that there's no dialogue, it's the first time I've found a show on the Spanish station where I could completely understand what was happening. :)

reply

I wish they put it on here in the u.k

I think I had it taped from BBC2 but that was yeears ago and I dont have the cassette anymore.

I really want to see this film again

I saw this movie on television (UK TV) sometime in the 90s.
Having a hangover at the time, I didn't pay much attention at first
but slowly it grew on me. By the end I was mesmerised. I didn't even
know what it was called. The only part I can recall really (apart from
the walking, walking) is the massive toads/ frogs/ whatevertheywere.

I discovered the name a few years back on imdb and check every now &
then to see if there's a dvd of it available anywhere in the world.
Apparently not. It's sad really how something of such great quality
can be forgotten/ missed.

reply

i really doubt that they will ever release it. im not sure how or who to write to, to request a copy, there are some haunting scenes that are still present in my mind even though i have not seen this in about 10 years.

Not sure if I would watch on reapeat, but I would definitely watch.

It was probably in early 90s when I saw the movie, I was a young teen at the time. It was on TV (possibly The Movie Network). From time to time I have images of this movie in my head but I had no idea what the title was. I just found it the Recommendations section for another movie I was looking up.

Not sure if there is a chance I find a copy, but I know I want to watch it. If I ever find a way to watch this movie again, don't worry I will let you know.

Have you noticed that User Rating received only 125 votes? This movie is not a typical Hollywood action blockbuster and is therefore not of interest to many people, sadly.

reply

yeah it sad:(

i really want to see this again. probably will never find it.

It's on the univision right now!

Somebody upload it to Youtube......

I have to see it from the beginning!!!!!

I just finished watching it, "El Eslabón Perdido" con Peter Elliott. It seemed very familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. I saw it once back in the late 80's & just forgot about it, then towards the end I started to remember. The thing about Spanish television is that they make an hour & 20 min movie last 3+ hours, every 5 mins they show 10 mins of comercials. Maybe the math is off but that's how long it feels. Yet I stayed watching it to the very end. Now I'm off to find the torrent.

reply

Ok you guys, someone has it up in parts on Youtube. the quality is not good, but it's better than nothing. here's the "link" to part 1. just click to sequential parts to watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbEt-mmZ8Ww

It's a fantastic movie, deeply touching and also jarring - truly one of those rare films that are unforgettable ... It's supremely sad, but hilarious in parts too - covering the entire gamut of human emotions ... I love this movie!

I just happened to catch this movie flipping channels, and i saw it on one of the spanish speaking channels, and was hypnotized and am watching it now. I'm a syfy freak, mostly old syfi, but this is good, and I'm really enjoying this movie.

reply

I agree... and have had the movie running continuously on several occasions. I just wish they would bring out a decent copy on DVD.

So glad to have finally stumbled upon tho movie again. I too saw it in the late 90's and have often thought about it since. I thought it was called Australopithecus Man but after very little googling I was able to find it here! Bummed to see that there's not a DVD available but I did find the whole film on Youtube. As someone else said, it's not the best quality but it's better than nothing!
