When Jack goes to N.Y.

When Jack is waiting for Helen Nelson to come home so he can call her to find out where the duke lives, he calls her right after she walks into her apartment building. But the scene right before this scene it shows Jack calling some guy named Harry to get Helen Nelsons address. My question is: How would Jack know what Helen Nelson looked like? The only information Jack had was a phone number and address. Just something I noticed and I thought I'd share.

I think those are brownstones that are either individual residences or have at most 3 or 4 individual apartments, so when the woman arrived at the address he was staking out he called to see if the woman who entered was indeed Helen Nelson. If it wasn't her, then the phone would not be answered and he would simply continue the stake out until someone else entered the building and he would repeat the call attempt. Regarding that scene, I had issues with the scanner-based phone tap which would only work if Helen Nelson was actually using a cordless phone (not a certainty, and if so he would have to verify he was actually picking up her phone's radio frequency through trial and error). While it is possible for him to do this, the chances of all these things lining up without a hitch make it very improbable that the phone tap would have gone as smoothly as portrayed in the film.

Oh ok, I didn't know that about brownstone buildings, so what you said makes sense. You're probably also correct about the phone tap as well. Of course this is only a movie and I know I shouldn't get to nit picky about things but I just can't help it! Lol
