Turning around with the FBI badge

When DeNiro first snatches Alonzo's badge he flashes it at the camera as he walks away. This was an ad lib by Robert and it really works.

Classic bit of improv by DeNiro

Absolutely brilliant ad lib. I like how you see his mouth moving, as well, muttering to himself like he's a fed. lol

Jack flashing Alonzo's badge is one of my favorites moments in the film. The fact that it was ad lib by De Niro makes me love it even more.

What do you think the teacher's gonna look like this year?

reply

Yes, a brilliant piece of improvisation!
He even looks straight into the camera for a second or two. And the score is timed perfectly with his move.
Brilliant!

Agree with all - that was really cool!

lmfao I just posted about that in another thread, glad someone else caught it, he was probably just fooling around but they left it in, awesome.

reply

Yes, the commentary on this DVD is great. Very entertaining.

"'Extremely High Voltage.' Well, I don't need safety gloves, because I'm Homer Simpzzzzzzzzzzzzz--" - Frank Grimes

To this day, whenever my brother or I get a new ID for work, we flash it to each other using De Niro's move, haha.

I have loved this movie since it came out in the late 80s. I always get a chuckle out of that part. I'm 54 now and I do that anytime I have my passport with me. Last year on a cruise I did that when I passed thru security and my wife just put her head down and laughed. She knows I won't grow up.

Sometimes only a wife comprehends and appreciates a guy’s humor. That’s how you know you have a great wife.

Couldn't have said it better!
