One of the best Charles Grodin Moments (there were many)

In the bus station when Jack realizes his credit card won't work and he has no money to buy a bus ticket so he has to get the money from the Duke and Grodin smiles at the agent as if to say "I know, can you believe this dufus"? lol. Was priceless.

Yeah that's a classic scene.

A lot of Grodin's best work in this movie is done with just a facial expression. His hungry look when asking how much the tea and coffee is, the pedantic 'i'm a white collar criminal' look at Jack's ex-wife's house and of course his tough FBI face during the 'red's corner bar' scene.

Hilarious performance all round.

the look on Grodin face when he meets Serrano in the Limousine

I love the look on his face when he's in the shower and Jack says, "Don't move, I'll shoot you right through the glass!"

reply

Yes, priceless. He was always hilarious when he went on Letterman.

Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar and doesn't.

The money belt scene.

"You get it started, and I'll run you over. That's the best plan I can think of."

His delivery of the line, "Oh, I'm sure we're completely safe," is the crown jewel of this film to me.

It's not a comedic moment, but his conversation with Jack while riding in the train boxcar is one of my favorite moments. It does begin comedic with Grodin's character mimicking Jack in conversation, but when he turns to a serious discussion about Jack waiting around for his wife it's a favorite moment for me.

"Sometimes you just have to let go . . get yourself a new watch."

Count me in with Seperatrix ... Walsh says he still thinks he'll get back together with his wife, and Grodin pauses and says, in just the exact right tone, "I don't think she's coming back."

Just the right amount of confidence and gentleness in that delivery, though I'd never been a Grodin fan before, showed me he was the absolute perfect actor for Mardukas.

And I'd actually gone into the theater thinking there's NO WAY Grodin can measure up to De Niro
