Goodbye Horses

Did anyone else notice that when Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Modine are in her apartment having a drink at the end of their date, Angela has put on "Goodbye Horses" by Q. Lazarus as background music? This is the same song that Buffalo Bill famously dances to naked in "Silence of the Lambs". What's up with that? I guess Demme likes the song a whole lot.

Yeah I noticed that to. He MUST be a fan of the song, why would he use it twice? I thought it was pretty cool though, hehe.

There were also two actors from Silence of the Lambs in this; I don't know how if the choice of song was a reference, or pure coincidence.

Liz Lemon: Chocolate chocolate chocolate! AAACK!

Johnathan Demme directed both movies. I remember the Married to the Mob soundtrack was the only place you could find that song in the 90s.

Actually, there are 5 actors from Silence of The Lambs in this movie. The trivia for this movie says there are 4 actors in this movie from Silence of The Lambs, but they don't know movie like I do, lol.

There are about 8 actors that appear across nearly all of Demme’s films. It’s fun to spot them.

Hell, even Dean Stockwell has a cameo in The Manchurian Candidate.

Demme came across that song when he was being driven in a taxi cab by… Q Lazarus. She played it to him as a way of showcasing the work of her band. He loved it and put it in this film.

Demme needed a song for Buffalo Bill’s dickless dance in SOTL and used Goodbye Horses as the temp track. He couldn’t find a new song that rivalled Horses so he just used it again.

Q Lazarus’ career never took off, but Demme always appreciated her, and she cameos in Philadelphia, singing a song at Hanks’ gay party.
