With Hollywood in the Remake/Reboot Renaissance(especially for horror films) I am surprised no studio has touched Maniac Cop yet. I am not saying I want to see it but with every big title and some cult titles getting picked up,it seems like no major studio wants to touch Maniac Cop.
Maybe because they think it's sleazy??
If there ever is a remake then how about Vinnie Jones for Matt Cordell.

Apparently, as of November last year, William Lustig and Larry Cohen were in talks for a MC remake... no later updates than that, so hopefully it's fallen through (these things tend to move pretty fast nowadays).
I don't think Vinnie Jones would sign on for Cordell (not enough "face time" if you know what I mean). Personally, I'd be happy to see one of the big "suit performers" (Brian Steele, Carey Jones, Andrew Bryniarski et al) take it on. They gotta be BIG and imposing enough to really scare the sh!t out of you...
If they're going to remake/reboot this, they ought to consider Taylor Mane for the part... He was big and scary as Sabretooth, and Michael Meyers....
shareI believe Lustig recently announced that he'd re-acquired the rights to the Maniac Cop character and hopes to bring him back in a new film. Whether it'd be "Maniac Cop 4" or a re-boot/remake of the original remains to be seen, I guess.
