Give the movie a break. It's 80's & obviously for children! When I was like 8-10 - this was one of my FAVORITE movies. Now when I watch it, it's a little silly, but stop bitching about it! Mac is so fraking cute. I want one :)
sharei totally agree...i dont know why this movie is so hated.i saw it when i was about 10 and i loved it.im 18 now and just watched it 5 minutes ago and yes it is a bit silly but i still find it good.the acting is a bit poor and some scenes dont need to be in the movie but its still good.mac and his family are so cute
shareThe fact that you liked it when you were ten doesn't make it good. Ten year olds have no taste. As an adult, you should be able to get over the nostalgia factor and see it for the awful piece of dreck that it is. You inner child will get over it.

shareI just re-watched this with my daughters there 10 and 6 and they liked it and have to admit, I didn't mide it either, I loved it when I was a kid and although not as great as I remembered I still liked it!

Wow. It amazes me how a harmless 80's movie aimed at kids can get people into such a rage. What is the point? If you don't like it then fair enough. But what is with all the consistent slagging off? It's like there's nothing else better to do. Just state your opinion and move on. I admit it's got some shameless plugs but it's not the terribly awful movie it's made out to be. I loved it as a kid and it still makes me smile as an adult. That's just my opinion. There is no right or wrong opinion. Just different views.

I liked Pinocchio and Looney Tunes as a kid and I still do. So just because kids like something doesn't mean it sucks. But this movie did suck because it was a ripoff. Ripoffs are even WORSE than remakes because at least remakes are honest about it.

shareSorry to tell you this buddy but my kids were also young when we saw this movie & we all agreed this movie stunk big time. Even though they were 8 & 6 at the time, they saw right through it & called it the McDonald's & Coke movie. This flick was definitely well below cheesy. Cheesy would have been watchable, this just made us sick.

Am between 25 and 1000, saw it (because i bumped in negative reviews, had to see for myself at least 10 mins, but ended up seeing....well, you get it, loved it.

I was 5 when this was released and I knew this was a awful piece of crap especially compared to other great family movies like ET, Princess Bride, Goonies and even Monster Squad. I still enjoy watching this movie every several years for a laugh.i also hate the excuse for a bad movie being it was made for kids. A kid/family movie doesn't have to be bad and this was just so a whole new level of bad. It is fun to get friends together on a Friday night, have some beer, order pizza and watch this car wreck together. I got my GF, my friend and his GF to watch it for the first time a few weeks ago and they all had tears running down their faces from laughing so hard. I guess the one positive thing about this movie is its not boring.

C'mon, folks, our kids deserve better.
And you'd be surprised: kids can usually tell when they're being talked down to. Kids usually know when adults are being condescending and trying to manipulate them. The best kid's books, movies, and TV shows are from creators who are being every bit as diligent when creating for kids as they are when they're creating for adults. Creating something for kids is no excuse to be half-assed....if anything, it should make you up your game significantly.
