WOOHOO! GOT IT!

I finally got the DVD of this remarkable film from Sands Films through Amazon UK. The film is region free but it is in PAL format, so you do need a DVD that can convert PAL to NTSC if you're watching it in the States on your TV -- although you can watch it on any computer. I went ahead and got a region free player that will convert for about $55.00 refurbished, and I'm happy with it. (Philips DVP5960) I did this because the next step is to buy The Norman Conquests from the UK because that's another one I had on inferior VHS tape for years and absolutely love, and I don't expect it to come to the US any time soon.

Anyway, celebration time! The original Little Dorrit is finally available! www.sandsfilms.co.uk

What's the quality like? Is it really improved or does it look/sound like a videotransfer? *curious*

reply

No, it's excellent. And the sound quality is especially good, something I was worried about, because when I taped it from SelecTV the sound was very poor.

It's Region 2, though, so you need an all-region player. But I bought a refurbished one for 50.00 so I could see this movie again.

Not a problem as I'm in Europe so I can play it. If the quality really is that good I'm putting it on my wishlist for my birthday. Thanks for the information :)

Too bad it isn't broadcast on tv that much. As it used to be, as a kid of the 1980s-early 1990s.
