One of the worst

This would normally be my cup of tea, as I love this genre of film. When it first came out, I bought tickets for both parts at the same time (the second part was being screened the following night). When part one was over, I ripped up my ticket for part 2. Life is too short to sit through more of this stultifying, dull, boring mess. Just awful.

You really MUST have thought it was awful to hold onto your hatred for decades before finally being able to share it with everyone through the advent of the Internet.

Lol, exactly!

Boy you have got to be joking!! You want to see bad movies go watch the sci fi channel or any bad Hollywood film now.

Don't call this film "bad" that's just factually incorrect and insulting my intelligence. The film may have been "boring" to you, but that doesn't=poorly made. Are you so self absorbed and egotistical that you can't separate that which isn't entertaining to you from that which is objectively poorly made??

At least the directors put love and work into this film. The cinematography, costumes are all beautiful, the dialogue is beautifully written and appropriate for the time period.

Btw the same cannot be said for that watered down, CGI, Disneyfied schlock they made in 2008. Give me 6 hours of this movie any day over 6 minutes of that piece of crap.

This movie does require a certain degree of intelligence, perhaps that is what limited your appreciation?

Why insult the OP, she did not care for it ... diff tastes.
Only saw part 2, was looking for info on part 1 vs 2.

Because I feel that the OP went a little over board...A simple "not my cup of tea" would have been sufficient. There is no need to "pulverize" it.
It is not as bad the OP made it seem. I originally saw part 2 before part 1 and found part 1 a little boring in comparison.
The concept is very interesting—the point at which the two stories cross is amazing and after rewatching 2, part 1 became more understandable.

reply

Why are you being so defensive, Hatton? Are you Christine Edzard?!

reply

I don't feel that I was "defensive" maybe a little insulting ( not intentionally), but then again it is true. This is a movie that requires more "involvement" on a cerebral level than perhaps Ninja Turtles...or any one of the many recycled comic book themed movies.
It is a magnificent film, both parts, all of it. I wish that there was more.

reply

I agree it needs concentration, but as I said a couple of months ago on a different thread...'without prior knowledge of the story, nobody can possibly understand the details of this narrative, as Edzard wrote it. The screenplay is just too verbose, too oblique, and too long. After watching the film, even Alec Guinness said the story was 'confusing' and 'hard to follow'.
