I have the R2 DVD, but want an R1 of LY

I got my R2 DVD from France, but it doesn't have subtitles on it.

Is there any chance of an R1 release of Light Years?

The UK region 2 DVD though out of print (supposedly because Eureka are about to re-release it on blu-ray) is still available from Amazon UK

They're asking £26 for it (approx $37?) so I'd try for the cheaper Marketplace copy instead.

Hi any news on this blu ray release?

reply

It is no more than a rumoured release I'm afraid. Apparently MoC are almost always cobtractualy bound not to announce new releases until only 10 weeks before their release so for all we know it may be imminent.

You may be interested to know that MoC have a very limited number of copies of the out of print DVD edition hidden away on the Exclusive Items mail order page:

http://www.eurekavideo.co.uk/offers/exclusive.html

It's £12.99 postpaid but only available to UK contumers.

Bad news. Just read confirmation on the Criterion forum that the UK DVD was a surprisingly poor seller for Masters of Cinema (despite their preceding Fantastic Planet DVD selling very well) and will not be receiving a blu-ray re-release.

Which is ironic since "Fantastic Planet" is a pretty abysmal production by comparison. Oh well.

Thanks for the reply 
