Edited Nest Scene

I've only seen the USA version of this film, and apparently there were some edits made in regards to the scene where Sylvain and Airelle are in the nest together. I've always noticed that Sylvain's shirt magically disappears during this sequence, without any shots of it being removed, so I'm guessing that the scene edited out happens immediately after the dinosaur leaves the two of them together in the nest. These edits were apparently made due to the scene being a bit sexual, but I can't imagine that it was deserving of being cut. For those who have seen the original French version of Gandahar, could you explain what happens in the scene that was cut for American audiences?

Also, is there anywhere I can hear the original soundtrack from the French version?

Yeah my VHS copy is called "Light Years" and his shirt magically disappears in the nest scene, too. Obviously a love scene was cut, never saw how it's supposed to be, personally.

I thought the giant reptile licked his shirt off.

I don't know why they cut that scene. There's no love-making in it. Not physically anyways.

I'm better than you.

In the French version, she rubs her knee against his thigh (after he has disrobed) while talking with him, which certainly looks like a prelude to lovemaking, though nothing beyond that is shown in the French version.

as well as the cut scene posted in the youtube link, the dialogue in the american version is significantly cut down and slightly changed. having recently been able to watch both versions i do prefer the original french release, though the american edit is still worth watching as the scene cut isn't wholly significant to the overall story.

reply

Indeed but that's still some pointless editing.
