'Ducky' (Judith Barsi) murdered at age 10 by her father?

All these years, I had no idea...

How disturbing is that?

reply

Dear God... that is just beyond disturbing... the poor child, with no one to protect her.

... the hardest thing in this world is to live in it...

OH MY GOD! That is so very sad. Now I have yet another reason to cry when I watch this movie.

Dear God, that is very sad. I was just watching the film with my daughter and have watched it since my nieces and nephews were kids and it's a family favourite. Ducky is one of the most memorable characters ever - I can't stop thinking about the little girl now. So much suffering - for all of them. RIP Judith.

R.I.P Judith <3

I too thought that was incredibly sad when I read it in the Trivia page - the poor child would be in her early thirties by now, that sort of thing always make me cry... it does make the movie even more sad.

Poor little girl. RIP Judith.

"Do you want it?" YES, Jareth!

I grew up with Don Bluth's movies, and love most of them. Ever since I found out what happened to Judy it's been very hard to watch them. Especially of course Land Before Time and All Dogs Go To Heaven. But even watching Secret of NIMH or An American Tail makes me think of her.

I've heard some tragic stories in my time, but to hear about such things happening to such a sweet child really shakes my faith in humanity.

Aside from being a touching tribute, that song is just wonderful. Diana Ross is an immensely talented woman. She's said that this is her favorite song to perform.

Actually I just found out something I didn't know. This song was written by Will Jennings who won the Academy Award and Golden Globe with James Horner for "My Heart Will Go On" from "Titanic".

I recently found out about this too and i can't stop thinking about the little girl either her house was just a few miles away from mine and i didn't even know. Sucks I remembered her voice from all dogs go to heaven and it was something else she was special

Yeah, I saw it on Wikipedia and the Trivia page. It sort of make me sad because people should not hurt a young child and try to think that children are a blessing and a gift from The Lord, our Saviour. There are people who are crazier than you think it is. Poor little girl and may this sweet little angel rest in peace

reply

HB, you caught my feelings precisely. I can't stop thinking of her, and she was older than me.

That is disturbing.

Yeah that is very sad I had no idea she was dead. She was such a pretty girl I couldn't even read the whole biography on IMDB without getting ready to cry. I can't stand when parents take their kids lives.

I watched All Dogs Go to heaven on Monday night (a movie I watched religiously as a toddler),and I started crying uncontrollably; I'm still not able to stop thinking about it; its so disturbing. I just went on youtube to look at some ducky scenes as its been YEARS since I've seen the land before time....I cannot stop crying. It just frustrates me so much for what happened to her and her mother! It pisses me off that anyone could do such a thing to a little angel! God bless Judith and her mom. I know it happened a long time ago (I was 20 months old), but, I just recently found out, and I'm just so sad about it. I think I'm going to name my child Judith Eva if I have a baby girl.
What a world we live in...

My Fav, it's more than ten years since you wrote that, and I started crying just now reading it.

That's horrible I had no idea :(

I loved Ducky I always thought Ravin Simone did that voice, and I loved Anne MArie.

After reading that tho it sounded like the mother had many chances to avoid that situation but never took them :(

reply

That is so sad. I cannot imagine how a parent can kill their child.

reply

People who commit such crimes are usually disturbed to begin with. In this case, her father was a refugee who fled communist Hungary. He had a problem with an increasing mental illness and alcoholism. He had already phisically abbused his daghter and wife and threatened to kill them before.

I read her mother stated that she had started divorce proceedings. I wonder why they were still together when it happened.

reply

I never knew about that either until I read it online a few years ago. Very sad.

I honestly had no idea. I often wondered why the voice for Ducky was different in other movies but didn't know that ! That's just sick and wrong. I enjoyed so many things she did. How sad.

reply

I didn't see it mentioned in the thread, but if anyone would like to see this little gal's acting chops, check out Jaws: The Revenge. Yes, it was a horrible movie, but Judith did a very fine job with her part as a very young child actress.
It is beyond sick what happened to her. Poor little girl was robbed of a very promising life and the world was robbed of some great talent.

reply

I read about that a few years ago. I'm glad I never heard about it as a kid.
