Kids horror movies in the 80's were pretty dark. Child murder, molestation, kidnapping, etc...

Lady in White, Silver Bullet, Monster Squad, the goonies (not horror), etc...
Before the 90's these movies weren't pulling any the punches. Even movies like the land before time didn't mince around the loss of a parent. This movie freaked me out as a kid and the story is genuinely disturbing.

Lol, it was a great time and this movie was scary as hell.

The old lady and that cliff were scary
