Filmed in my home town!!

In NEW YORK!!

No joke, this movie used to scare the sh!t out of me when I was a kid. But I am dead serious about this being filmed in my hometown. I used to go to the school it was filmed in, but now I'm in HS..

I won't name town, because I don't want stalkers! LoL!

Lyons, NY .... it's mentioned in the movie.

Any news on the Ohman Theater being restored?

reply

Yah, I belive that is actually getting done now. I know alot of people are excited about it, but I heard it will only be playing one movie a week, which would suck :-X

Not only do I remember the filming - part of which was done on Dickerson St where I lived, but I met Lukas Haas when they filmed a scene down by the canal.

Lukas was young then - and I mostly remember his dad being a little on the overprotective insane side.

And yes, they are reopening the Ohmann Theatre in Lyons...

Hey, I live in Rochester, where the director is from. I was about 5 I guess when the movie came out so no memories. It is cool though to have a movie close to home right. I liked this movie alot. Its pretty cool, I've seen the place the trivia talks about where the ghost allegedly resides. Also that song will stick with me forever. :)

yeah, i grew up in rochester..always passed that spot in Duran park. Evidentally, I was an extra in Lady in White in the Church Scene.. as my father was good friends with the brother of the director. Anywho..I actually auditioned for a bigger role, walking to the front of the line past like 200 people because i had the connections..but, i was only 7 or 8 and kinda shy..so i just ended up as an extra.

The Ohmann Theatre was built in 1915 by Burt Ohmann in Lyons, New York. Burt operated the theatre through the 1930's. His sons Robert and Myron took over the management of the theatre together through the following twenty years. Robert continued to run the theatre as the sole proprietor and theatre manager until the late 1980's. In 2005 his oldest son Bob brought the theatre back to the Ohmann family with a complete reconstruction.

Through its long and proud history the Ohmann Theatre has been a live theatre house, the site of vaudeville and musical entertainment, and even a venue for amateur boxing. Of course, the movie screen was always there, lighting the faces of the finest actors and the most touching cinematic moments, from the earliest silent films through the talkie era and beyond.

I thought the school in the movie (the outside at least) was filmed in Phelps on Main St. (Rt96)?

reply

I think you're right; that's what I've always heard (I used to live in Phelps). The school was recently converted in to an old folks home...

The Legend of Cryin' Ryan (1998)

Not so much of a horror film, but along the same lines.

The movie was mostly filmed in Seneca Falls, parts of Waterloo, near Cayuga Lake, and in Fairport.

It sold originally in Europe, Central America, Canada, and South America. As of October, 2004, it can now be purchased on DVD.

the scene where they are driving on that overpass is the skyway in Buffalo, just thought you could add that to the list of places where this movie was filmed
