Old Fashioned Ghost Story

The thing I've always liked about this movie is that it reminded me of ghost stories and scary movies from when I was young. I still really enjoy watching this movie as an adult.

Oh absolutely. This is my favorite Halloween movie ever. I make a big whoop out of it every October. I make Halloween-inspired food and drink and have my family over. I don't invite any who isn't into movies as much as we are because I don't want anyone talking during the movie or worse...laughing during an inappropriate scene.

Yeah, I take my movie viewing very seriously. :) I cannot wait for October.

So...did you screen the film for your family yet?

What food and drink did you serve?

Haha, thanks for asking! I will be having the viewing on October 30th. I will be serving ribs since it most resembles the human body. :) I couldn't find anything else to serve that was Halloween-inspired that wasn't childish to serve like spaghetti and meatballs that would appear to be guts and eyeballs. So the sides are still kinda up in the air, they may end up being regular sides. But I do have a fountain that I will be serving the red wine in, when it flows it looks like blood and it's gorgeous. For dessert I usually make a cookies 'n cream pie that is decorated on top with cocoa powder to look like dirt and cookie tombstones that I write with icing (i.e. RIP) on each one, so the whole thing resembles a cemetery. But I may end up serving something else for dessert. I can't wait.

Have fun! I'll be at a wedding that night, but I'd rather have ribs and watch the movie!

Just came across this thread. I hope you're still doing your Halloween movie viewing party! A bunch of us Buffy fans do the same thing every year....potluck, wine, candy and Buffy videos! If you *are* still doing this here's a thought, last year for Buffy Night I did a red velvet cake with black frosting! There's a photo of it here http://www.starzspooksnstuff.com/vampire.html

You must have had a fun childhood. While the movie does start off in a nostalgic way, it delves into a lot of stuff that wouldn't have been shown in the old ghost stories.
