Is there a real Lady in White legend?
It was hinted at in some earlier posts written by people in Upstate New York, but no one has gone into detail.

Yes. There are a number of them. But there is one similar to this that I've heard of.
I watched a documentary a few weeks ago about ghosts yet I can't remember the name of it. But it is I think in CT or in that area near the coast. A woman lost her daughter. I can't remember how but she is said to wander the cliffs looking for her daughter.
Now that I think about it I think I saw this story on the Travel Channel. I think it was called America's Scariest Places.
There are also a number of other such as a woman who wanders a highway, brides who died on their wedding day and so on.
