WHY 25 MINUTES LONGER? (help me out!!)
Does anyone know why of all the Decalogue films, this particular one was released in a 25minute longer version under this title? Weren't all of the 10 films made for the polish T.V.?
shareActually, this wasn't the only Decalogue film released in a longer theatrical version -- Decalogue 6 was also released as a longer theatrical version, as A Short Film About Love. All ten Decalogue episodes were made for Polish TV, with the plan from the beginning that two episodes would also be theatrically released in longer versions. Kieslowski picked Decalogue 5 and Decalogue 6 as the ones to get the theatrical treatment, presumably because he felt they were the strongest stories and/or the best subjects for a longer treatment. Apparently extra footage was shot for a possible theatrical version of Decalogue 9, which would have been called A Short Film About Jealousy, but the project never came to fruition.

i am just not sure if it was understandable from your point of view.
you could maybe think that 2 films of the dekalog were longer, if you haven't read between the lines.
if you wanted to see the dekalog-films, you have obviously seen the wrong one.
cause there are 2 versions of this film.
1 shorter version for tv, which is part of the dekalog
1 longer version for cinema, which isn't part of the serie,
but which is nearly the same film, just longer and with more elaborated charakters.
