Any other films like this?

Tonight was my first time to watch this. I came across it from some other thread but since it took me a while to search for it, I have forgotten from which movie it was referred to me. Anyway, while I was watching it, all the while I kept being reminded of the French movie La Pianiste. I think they have the same effect on me.

Do you know of any other films that are as good and almost like this? Story-wise and/or quality-wise?

I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Los Amantes del Círculo Polar

I wouldn't recommend you at all "Los Amantes del Círculo Polar", since it's a mediocre film, like many of Julio Medem's movies. I think you may like "Intimacy", by Patrice Chereau, because it's a deep and very emotional film.

Just buy Dekalog and watch all ten films. They're like no other! Follow these with Double Life of Veronique and the Three Colour Trilogy.

You can't go wrong.

Just watched this movie and loved it. I agree with andywood-3. If you like this you will love The 3 colour trilogy and Dekalog 1-10. KK was a Master film maker. On the DVD I watched they had his first film "Tramway" made in 1966 for the Polish film school. A silent short - brilliant. Also some great insights into the great man from the actress who plays Magda and a French guy who was his assistant director.

Jacques Audiard's visual style reminds me of Kieslowski's. Like ASFAL, his Read My Lips also plays on the Rear Window theme. It's more thriller than romance, but an excellent film. Also:
