Was the ending of the movie different from cable version vs VHS version?

I watched this as a kid on cable long time ago and vaguely remembered that the ending of the movie seem to indicate that the transference of the creature from the aunt to the niece had happened. Recently, I watched a VHS copy of the movie from my friend and it was different. Did anybody else remember such a thing or am I just imagining this?


By the way, did anyone think that the furry creature was similar to those furball creatures from the movie Critters?
