What a Great movie

This is a great movie and what also makes it special is that i work in the same place that some of these scenes are shot.

Which scenes? My parents owned the Sunflower Motel while they were making the movie. A shot of my siblings and I playing in the yard next to the parking lot never made it in to the movie.

Sometimes you can question your claims of praise, because they might be protected behind your magic shield of nostalgia. Times of your life, or when life or world was more interesting place. After watching Kansas today, I can confirm that this be a little classic discovery.

And classic I dare call it because, it deserves such a good rating. Kansas might grant you the magic of 80’s, but, graced with beautiful score from Pino Donaggio and scenery lived by acting of substance... one might lane a felling of even decade of two earlier. And that is even more complimentary to this movie. Protected from time - truly a compliment for things we like to experience as timeless.

I even like that Kansas is almost unknown for his magic because it would always be a source of pleasant discovery. You have to love the ending for that special emotional ambiance. There is something so pleasant and memorable about it. So glad someone allready made those ending caps :

I first saw this movie on VHS ~1989 when I was on sabbatical leave in Washington DC and was nostalgic for the Midwest (I'm from Oklahoma). To me it's a little gem that no one saw or ever heard of. It's well-mounted, has solid production values, interesting and well-paced plot. In terms of entertainment, I would put Kansas ahead of many movies that are rated 7-8 on imdb.com.

But tell me this Jdown-1,

Do you carry that sentiment from memories, or you have confirmed your impression with recent recollection of enjoying and watching Kansas again? I was pleasantly surprised, I feel the same.

I moved to Kansas in '88 and actually watched this movie in the theater, I don't think it was released many other places theatrically. I thought it was a great movie and always wondered why it didn't get more exposure. It's better then it's rating on IMDB if you ask me.

Yes. I've just finished watching Kansas for the third time, and it stands up well. Not sure why it gets such a low rating here. I still enjoy the great cinematography & authentic look. It's plot-driven, with enough twists & turns to keep you guessing, unlike >90% of movies these days.

I remember seeing the trailer for this on the A nightmare on Elm on Street 4 vhs.
