THE DRACULA SECRETS:Jack the Ripper & the Darkest Sources Of Bram Stoker(by Neil R. Storey)

X-cerpt!!!

...Modern criminal profilers state serial killers often take trophies. The Ripper's second victim, Annie Chapman, was known to wear two brass rings-they were noted as missing when her body was found in the backyard of 29 Hanbury Street in 1888. When Tumblety(JR??? suspect)finally died of a heart condition @ St John's Hospital, St Louis, in 1903 he left a considerable amount of money in his will. It is, therefore strange to note among the few effects that he kept ON HIM to the very end were listed 'two imitation rings worth $3'...

Portrait of A Killer:Jack the Ripper-Case Closed(by Patricia Cornwell)

Richard Mansfield---The Strange Case Of Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde(by R.L.Stevenson)

...Although his(George's)sexual life was never as louche as Eddy's, his diary entries for 1892 reveal???that by that time he had kept a mistre$$ in a flat at Southsea. And in St.John's Wood, London, there lived another, who shared her bed alternately with both brothers. "She's A RIPPER(???)", George wrote enthusiasticall in his diary...(The Decline & Fall Of The House Of Windsor by Donald Spoto)

Thank you. It's called "M" and it was written in about 6 weeks in 2001. NOT as a commercial project per se, but to see if I could actually do it.

Re Tumblety--he was in police custody during the Kelly murder. He was a nutcase though and a generally weird guy. I can understand him being a suspect but the fact that he has an alibi for the Kelly murder eliminates him.

Re James Maybrick--he was obsessed with his name-particulary his last name. His wife referred to him as "M" in letters. The initial "M" was found carved on the cheek of Catherine Eddows as well as on a screwed up piece of paper near Annie Chapman's body AND it seems to a lot of people the letter was smeared on the wall behind the body of Mary Kelly.

And Tumbelty was too tall, too American, too old at the time. Some have said Tumbelty was gay and homosexuals don't usually kill women like this - dunno if that's the case or not!

reply

Homesexual male serial killers almost always kill the object of their desires ie other men and boys. And the "Dr." Tumbelty crowd has NEVER explained how he could be JTR if he were in police custody on 11/9/1888.

What convinced me that James Maybrick was the Ripper (among a slew of other things) was a letter that Florrie Maybrick wrote to her lover about a "tale" that James had told her that was meant to frighten her.

THIS coupled with another letter written to Queen Victoria by Florence's mother basically stating that her daughter deserved mercy b/c "of the facts of her husbands life"--it was well known that Maybrick was an arsenic addict and a rake--so what (the implication was that the facts were NEW) could The Baroness be talking about.

reply

Seriously?? Wow - i always thought it was James Maybrick after i saw a watch or something with the victims names in there.

Hmmm investigating here i come :)

reply

If the diary is a "fake" then the watch must be "fake" too. And the watch is definitely NOT fake. ergo...

reply

Wow :) woohoo - think im going to be a detective hahahaha

I heard they thought it was a Polish sailor because the ship he was on always stopped in london at the time of the murders. And they were sporadic because he would be away, then back, then away etc. I read somewhere he was executed in America or somewhere for similar murders & thats why they stopped suddenly.

reply

The problem with something like that is that the Ripper was clearly talking to his victims in English--Elizabeth Park (who saw the Ripper with Annie Chapman) said they were talking to each other. I doubt Annie was translating from the Polish.

reply

Yes true, it may not have been polish. I can't remember what nationality but it was a sailor I read which could explain why he kept disappearing back onto his ship. Interesting theory:)

reply

Patiently waiting for a Maybrick film!

reply

I have written a script based on the diary--I wrote it in 2001. I showed it to one film company here in Connecticut and an exec loved it--but her boss thought it was too violent for his tastes. Oh well. I don't have time to "pitch" it to other studios--so it's collecting dust right now.

The title is "M".

reply

May I read it?

reply

Yes, send me your mailing address and I'll send you a copy. It's 123 pages.
