Real Lambo? And how did the Company allow it?

I know some of the cars in the film are most likely Kit Cars, but was the car in this film supposed to be a real Lambo and wouldn't the company have prevented the film from potraying their car as a hunk of rolling junk?

No, Travis even says in the beginning "It's an imitation Lamborghini"

Its pretty clear that the cars are kits, and its even mentioned in the movie.

I'm surprised Lambo let it go for the copyright infringement alone....but there it is on film and such.

Cheers!

My sister worked on this movie.

Several cars were used in this movie to depict the main car. All were either kits or cosmetically altered Lambos.

The main car used belonged to one of the producers. It was a real Lambo and was used for the closups and interior shots.

Another rented Lambo was used for the driving shots.

A third mock-up was destroyed at the end of the movie.

Lamborghini wasn't too thrilled with the way the car was depicted in the script so they didn't allow the use of their name or the car's image, hence the name change, the pains the script went to say it wasn't a Lambo, and the cosmetic alteration of the cars.
