True, doesn't make sense to go out like that when he was supposed to be such a great pilot. It's like the whole of the first movie goes down the tube with that.
Im guessing the actor who played Masters didn't want to be in any more Iron Eagle movies. Shame, he would've made this movie much better if he returned to the same role. The new guy didn't work.

I was excited for iron eagle 4 and to see the retern of doug. but it wasn't Jason gedrick. if it was I could of forgiven his doushiness. crying about nobody came looking for him and all his friends moved away or got married or died..
and the acting was horrible! the cockpits didn't match the planes they were flying and they used recycled and stock footage of other air engagements for the films flight sequences total let down!!
I turned off HBO and went "that was total crap and the hype leading up to its release was complete crap! promising the return of doug and *beep*
ya no and what made it worse is it came out the same time Jason cadieux was in talks to be the new crow for the direct to dvd "The Crow: Salvation" Sequal they even went and cut a trailer that had a crow flying through a graveyard and land on a grave tombstone and the tombstone read Jason Cadieux with a narration that said "sometimes just sometimes bad things happen to good people and the dead can return to set wrong things right" or however the quote goes.
and as we all know well nope he didn't get that role..
