Plan stolen from STAR WARS

Did nobody realise that the plan to destroy the nuclear missile site is the exact plan to destroy the Death Star?

reply

Yeah and the bad guy was obviously based on Darth Saddam Hussayn.

Actually this movie was made in 1988 when Iraq was our ally so I think the enemy is supposed to be the Iranians in this one. Iraq did not become our enemy until 1991 with Desert Storm.

reply

The bad guy in this movie was the guy who wrote the script

I mean, that plan was stupid even for STAR WARS

reply

Maybe, but you could also argue that Lucas stole the Death Star attack from Bridges of Toko-Ri and 633 Squadron.

I think that everybody did. I've read multiple reviews that slam the movie for ripping their climax off from Star Wars.

Well the first part of your post until the word "Also:" could describe any underdog story from Hollywood. Lets face it, their heroes always triumph over the adversity of a traumatic past experience.

But if you are looking for comparisons for Iron Eagle 2 then I thought that the climax was actually more closely related to Return of the Jedi than A new hope.

I noticed some similarities, and even joked "you're all clear kid now let's blow this thing and go home."
