Most pointless cameo ever? (spoilers)

What was the point of Bruce being in this? Just to play some random cop at the end that's unrelated to anything and give him like 4 lines on top of that.

At least make him the killer since you don't see him to the end

You'd barely know it's Bruce unless you looked out for him
