Michael Gross Was The Best

I never knew what a great actor Michael Gross was until I saw THE F.B.I. MURDERS. Before then, all I've ever seen him in was FAMILY TIES. But he proved to me what a great talent he is when he starred in this Made-for-TV film. It was a movie that should have been made for the silver-screen. Michael Gross was surprisingly wonderful in this roll. The best performance by a television actor that I HAVE EVER SEEN!

Yes,I thought this was his best role in his career.

When I was trying to figure out what this movie was the fact that it had him in it. It was just that you see him in Family Ties, then have him playing a criminal in this one, made it really stand out.

As an aside, Gross really made an effort to make his work in this film authentic. He was totally unfamiliar with guns before this movie, so he had to work with a shooting coach. I would say that the work paid off.
David Soul had no such problem; his roles in Magnum Force and later, in Starsky and Hutch prepared him well for his portrayal of Michael Platt.

Yeah, I remember back in 1988 when the movie was shown on TV, it was quite a shock to see Michael Gross in such a different kind of role from being the liberal hippy dad on Family Ties. Looking back, I would agree that F.B.I. Murders was the best role of his career. Ronny Cox was great as well. I also agree that it should have been made for the silver screen. This was way too good a story and cast to be a TV movie. Nevertheless, it's great.

This is one of those movies that draws and keeps you interested and Michael Gross is one of the reasons. He definitely takes a huge step away from his Family Ties character. I admire an actor that does that. I'm hoping Gross is still in the biz. This role erased all memories of his family man persona in Family Ties.
