Near the end of the movie John & Yoko are incredibly close, and then I recall there was some sort of abrupt separation where John went off on his own. Then they reunited shortly before he was murdered.
I can't seem to remember what that was all about. Am I remembering this right? Why would 2 people so happily in love split up?
There was a time between 1974 and 1975 when Lennon and Ono became estranged from one another. Lennon moved to L.A. with their personal assistant May Pang (at Ono's suggestion). Lennon moved back to New York in '75 and soon got back together with Ono. This was called their 'Lost Weekend'. John died in 1980.

yea they sepperated for about 18 months from sometime in 1973 to 1975, it was around about the same time the U.S was trying to deport john. when they split john moved to L.A and went on abit of a piss up basically, which is now known as 'the lost weekend'. altho he did record some good solo projects like 'mind games' and 'walls and bridges'. he hung around with ringo starr and keith moon and was very pally with harry niellson. im sure when lennon was a special guest at one of elton johns concerts that was when yoko was backstage and met john and from then thats when they got back together
