Does no one ever visit this page?

...one post on the message board, with a total of 2 replies?! WTF?! This film won an Academy Award as the best feature length documentary in 1988, and it isn't even available for purchase on DVD? No one ever mentions it or talks about it, even on IMDB?! Seriously, what is the deal with this film? It is like it fell into a black hole after it won the Academy Award...am I the only person who knows about it?

Hi -

I too am surprised at how little traffic there is here regarding this film. I am watching it on VHS today, but I personally think it is way too long. I think two hours would have been enough.

I have it on video (from swedish TV) If i find it at a good price I'll buy the DVD. Just saw the movie with Franka Potente and i can say that is nothing compared with Hotel Terminus.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. I saw this movie at a theater near my home in about 1989 or '90. I staggered home, exhausted, grief-spent. What else is there to say? The film is devastating.

You are certainly not the only person to know of it.. but you may be one of a very few who have seen it. I'd love to (perhaps not the best word, sorry) see it. Tips on how to would be appreciated. (I live in the UK, but have a R1 player)

It has something to do with the length of the movie. Also the first part is quite slow and boring if you are not interesting in every little detail.
After the first 30 min I was about to stop it,but I continued watching and it became more and more interesting. The last two hours were fascinating. All in all a great documentary

I have at last managed to find a copy on Ebay.
As you say, how come this is not readily available - as is Shoah for example. Equaly long (more so in fact) and equally challenging

What can one say about Klaus Barbie? A man who tortured children in front of their mothers to get them to talk?
