'Food? WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO GET FOOD!?!'

Seita neatly and concisely sums up the situation facing millions of Japanese during WW2 with that angry question to an indifferent doctor. Sums up the film's premise neatly.

Star Trek: Multi-spectral subspace engines
SF Debris: So the shuttle is powered by rainbows?

reply

When he said that I was nearly choking of lack of oxygen. I couldn't breathe throughout this movie, it was way too sad. I've made so many people watch it because it's a beautiful piece of work :')

reply

Yeah, clearly people in well paying fields like doctors were exempt from rations as the doctor didn't seem to be for want of anything to eat.

WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO GET FOOD!?!

No one should ever have to say those words.

reply

What? Even if you refuse to work when capable of doing so?

reply

Nowhere in the story does Seita refuse to work. His workplace and his school had both been bombed.

You continually ignore the fact that Seita also had to care for his little sister.

You seem to feel that placing sufficient blame on Seita removes all of the poignancy from the story.

"I can't BELIEEEEEVE you're such a geese!"

reply

He can work elsewhere, as suggested by his Aunt. It is implied that he did not attempt to seek work at all.

No, she can be left unattended or minimally attended by the Aunt. The elevated risk of death is acceptable.

reply

The elevated risk of death is acceptable.

And again, this kind of statement just reveals your dishonest intentions on this board. Saying that it's OK if the little girl dies as long as the brother gets a job is completely illogical because he would have been working to support her.

But you're not here to discuss the film. You're just trying to get a rise with artificially calloused arguments that no sane adult would make.

As I've pointed out elsewhere, you have no understanding of children at all.

I'm done with you.

jj

"I can't BELIEEEEEVE you're such a geese!"

reply

Elevated risk, not absolute certainty. Just how fragile do you think children are?

Sure, run away then, little boy.

After asking that question out loud, Seita figures it out: "oh yeah, in the grocery store". Unfortunately, it was going to be too late.
