What really connected with me

Although several people (myself included) had some disagreements with Seita and his selfishness and stubbornness, there was one thing that really connected with me. Even though they were losing all of their possessions (tangible and intangible) left right and center, I really liked that they managed to keep a hold of their happiness and childlike joy as long as possible. I think about how we in our plush, comfortable lives complain because of one thing or the other, but these two children were in complete despair. It really was a series of unfortunate events, one that they (or many of the citizens of Japan) did not ask for, and yet they still managed to find joy in the little things. In fireflies - in the life that still remains. I really want to learn from them in that respect. Strip everything that I have, but give me life, I really want to remain happy and childlike.
