What happened at the end?

I was watching this movie last week and was unable to see it in its entirety. The last scene I watched was final boxing match between Afro-american boxer and Mickey Rourke's character and that time Chris Walken's character trying to rob without Johnny. What happened next? Is Johnny dead? Can Wesley rob the jews?

Mickey Rourke's character loses the match, and there are hints he may have finally been severely brain damaged. He re-appears moments later, though, to meet his girlfriend.

Chris Walken and his gang botch the heist and are killed or arrested.

Thank you so much

During the fight, as he sits beaten on the canvas, we see through johnny's eyes again, and the blur he has experienced several times throughout the movie is now gone. he can see ok again, and smiles sadly to himself, but then falls over, seemingly dead.
Ray bails on Westley and isn't there to pick him up after the heist, and the cop (i forget his name) chases Westley on foot and shoot him. Westley dies in the surf.
Ruby returns to the fairground and starts up the merry-go-round. It is working now, obviously she and johnny have totally fixed it. She sits sadly in her own thoughts, and then something catches her eye.
We cut to a puddle on the ground and Johnny's booted feet appear. A wide shot closes the movie of him walking toward her. Although ambiguous, a happy ending. Without Westley's influence Johnny can be free, his temporal bone problem is gone, and, although he can no longer fight, he can live happily ever after.

Saw a version once, can't remember if it was on network tv, a rental or a premium cable channel, and the end shot was just Ruby sitting on the carousel alone, and Johnny didn't turn up at all, which I took to imply that he died.

aw that's just wrong!

I think that the end was so romantic, almost a Hollywood ending . I dont think that Mickey would write one at all.
I think Johnny dies and as he does has a vision of Ruby in the finished carosel.
She never could have gotten it together so fast at the rate she was going.

Please watch all of it , I don’t want to spoil it but I’m burning to discuss the ending with someone.
The end shows Johnny walking towards his girlfriend on the board walk out from the darkness and ocean behind him , the woman just turned on the carasell of light powering it on . As it begins to start up slowly Johnny walks out from the dark night ocean behind him she stares at him as he smiles at her . The distance between the two has he stoped leaves me with the sad feeling that it’s his spirit smiling at her before he leaves to go home (heaven perhaps) giving reference to the title. Maybe the boy is credited to his simple and child like innocence he veiwed the world in.
