my copy of this, which i got on a bootsale rummage about 9 years ago is called "Close your eyes and pray" just thought id point that out see if anyone els out there has this version! just never seen it with that name anywere els!
shareyeah - ive got a uk vhs (with 2 covers!) called "close your eyes and pray" which is a slightly cut version of "hide and go shriek"...
compared to the US version its cut in two other places: one scene with the prostitute at the beginning has the brief non-explicit sex cut out but the stabbing (as quick as it was) intact... this seems weird considering the amount of female flesh later on display! and for some inexplicable reason the death by sinkbasin is reduced too, which is again quite odd considering the decapitation by lift was complete!
who knows what the british censors were up to that day! thank god they've relaxed a bit over the years.....
but yeah "close your eyes and pray / hide and go shriek" was pretty enjoyable, definitely better than a lot of the cheapo slashers that were coming out around the same time.... i would say its on a par with "chopping mall" and possibly "intruder" for fun no-brainer late 80s slasher thrills.
Thats a good name for a horror film, but im glad here in the U.S. its "Hide and Go Shriek". .it fits the movie alot better.
