Can someone decode the scene hinting at Tiffany's traumatic experience? I understand the baby sewing its mouth shut is her self-imposed silence, but I can't understand the rest of the scene. Was her mother killed by a doctor-clown? Did Channard do something to her mother/her?
shareThere was an unfilmed scene in the script which would appear near the beginning of the movie, where Tiffany escapes the hospital to visit a nearby carnival and is then captured by a couple of interns and Channard and brought back. Although the scene was deleted, it probably inspired Tiffany's personal hell, which wasn't in the script.
As for Tiffany's mother, she was murdered by Channard. We also see Tiffany in surgery with Channard saying that he's going to help her. It's a little unclear what he did to her, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's part of the cause of her condition other than seeing her mother killed and her pre-existing obsession of puzzles.
