Hellbound: Hellraiser II deserves higher rating on imdb

Hellbound: Hellraiser II deserves higher rating on imdb, should have at-least a 7 or above rating.

It is not only a genre film, but one that only appeals to fans of it, so it is no surprise that the rating is low.

So you're saying the only people who like Hellraiser II are people who like Hellraiser II?

reply

No, horror fanatics in general are more prone to like it and or forgive some of its elements that are more off putting to non-horror fans (think Roger Ebert). Does that mean all horror fans would like it, no, of course not.

Personally, I really adore this sequel. It takes the elements from the original, and crafts them into a haunting and eerie little gem of a film that manages to be just as great and memorable as its predecessor. What I really loved about the film was the heavy atmosphere it has; like the first, the tone is dark and dreary, and then once onside the Labyrinth, it takes it to a whole other level: it becomes nearly Kafka-like terror and horror, with the surreal and nightmarish images that are depicted here and throughout the maze and corridors of Hell (its horrifying, and yet beautiful in a macabre sort of way. The film does a great job of making even the most gruesome images striking).

Definitely a masterful horror sequel, and one that deserves a higher rating for sure (I gave it a 9, myself).
