Do you think the real Elvis would have agreed to this?

I don't know much about Elvis's character, but in real life, based on how I know the real world works, I can see Elvis waking up, kicking the kid's ass, and getting him arrested, and the media would label the story about how an obsessed fan kidnapped Elvis Presley. But then again, maybe not. Maybe the real Elvis would have agreed to help the family out, but it would be pretty far fetch. I also would think Elvis's people would have made an effort to find him.

But, this is just a film, and a very entertaining one at that, and a film I have enjoyed since childhood.

I think you are right on the kid getting his butt handed to him.

I find it amazing that people chase fame and fortune THEN want the simpler, albeit harder times back when they were more grounded. With each step in life comes the responsibility of that step. After all the adventure is the journey, not the destination.

Thinking this way, I do think that handled right this kid probably could have gotten away with a plot like this.

I think Elvis would have liked this as long as he was clean and sober and away from his handlers.

I think he would have been scared and intrigued enough to go along once he understood that he wasn't being kidnapped for ransom or for a political statement by the SLA.

Being abducted by a bunch of teenage boys would be almost laughable (in 1972, of course).
